Introduction
I had the opportunity to participate in Job Expo 2023 organized at Ajeenkya D Y Patil University in collaboration with Talenlio. There were a lot of companies to apply for, out of which I was shortlisted for Accenture, Coditas and Equip9. Here I want to specifically share my experience interviewing with Coditas.
Aptitude and Group Discussion
It started with an aptitude test covering basic programming fundamentals, including C++ and Python, along with some quantitative aptitude questions. It was an easy one and most of us cleared it, making it to the group discussion round. We had our lunch and headed to the room where we were briefed about the company and the role from the HR. The HR then introduced the round, where we were given a topic - 'Favorite Movies' and asked to share our thoughts about it. I talked about Kung Fu Panda and La La Land. Kung Fu Panda was just another animated, fun and light-hearted movie back then. But after growing up, I realise it was more about self-discovery and the transformative power of belief in oneself. La La Land is another favorite of mine, especially 'Mia & Sebastian's Theme', which has stayed with me since. Roughly 5-6 of us were shortlisted out of around 30 candidates.
Interview
Almost after a month of our group discussion, I got an email invite for L1 interview. The interview was abruptly preponed to the afternoon, after initially being scheduled in the evening. It started with two pattern questions as given below. I was able to get the right triangle right but could not print the diamond pattern.

After this we started discussing my projects and stuff related to it. For most of this part we were discussing JavaScript. Interviewer asked me to open an online compiler and I had to explain certain concepts with related examples. This included ES6 features like arrow functions, object destructuring, rest vs spread operator, map and for each. There were questions on OOPs concepts as well.
Verdict : Not Shortlisted
Wrapping up
Although I could not make it to the L2 interview, participating in the Job Expo was a valuable experience. With over two thousand participants, I could sense both the enthusiasm in the atmosphere as well as the high level of competition in the market, especially during the 2023-24 period. On the technical part, I feel being unable to solve the diamond pattern could have been the distinguishing factor.
